C or N are Daniel Mee (Mazatlan Mexico) and Claudia Clinton Smith (London), a Mexican and British design duo. Their latest collection, entitled ‘THE SILENT WORLD’ has shown twice at Mexico Fashion Week and stocks in CLINICA MEXICO DF.

The history
We both studied at The London Institute. Daniel studied Menswear and I did Womenswear. As soon as we graduated, Daniel won an award to do a menswear collection for Debenhams and began to work on his own ideas. I joined him soon after, and together, we decided to start with a womenswear collection (although we do plan to continue with menswear in the future). We both knew we’d have to do this in our spare time - both working full-time as freelance designers for large retailers to earn a living – but we saw a gap in the Mexican fashion industry and wanted to go for it. Mexico fashion has got infinite potential, which the international market is only just beginning to realize. The USA and Europe are starting to show some interest now – magazines like Nylon are going to our main stockist, Clinica, in Mexico City in search of cutting edge Mexican design, so that’s great for us! The whole area is really booming with creativity at the moment. It’s really exciting to be part of.

The Collection
THE SILENT WORLD looks other worldly. We have a piece called ‘Darth Vader Dress’! Think Space, the aquatic and dark horror elements. Silvers, blues, whites, greys, blacks and pure, clean structured shapes. The collection is inspired by the astrological beliefs of the Mayans who were zombies to the gods they worshiped at their pyramids. It has a futuristic feel that echoes parallels between the London and Mexico DF club scenes. Space Odyssey meets Nu Grave…
