12 SPACE FILMS YOU SHOULD SEE BEFORE YOU DIE

By

Me and my film buff buddy Pam thought we ought to put together a brief guide to the best spacey films ever made... If you haven't seen these, maybe dress up like an astronaut (get your  hands on some NASA nappies if you can), get a munch and kick back for some serious entertainment...

The Little Shop Of Horrors – Is it wrong to be strangely attracted to the ‘Mean Green Mother From Outer Space’?

Solaris - Tarkovsky version, not Soderbergh remake (even though it is pretty worthy in and of itself).

Alien - All but the 4th, certainly alien and aliens - classic.

Space Balls - Seriously, get in.

Empire Strikes Back - Obvious. We think it's the best but you might want to check this with a boy.

Armageddon - Horrendous nationalist crap, but outweighed by Aerosmith, Liv Tyler and Steve Buscemi dry humping a nuclear warhead.

Dune - David Lynch's much maligned bankrupter is actually brilliant and Sting dies in it which is a bonus.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show – A big transsexual, lots of suspenders, a dancing hunchback and some cracking tunes… and Meatloaf gets hacked up with an axe and eaten for supper. Whoooop! (This was my favourite film when I was 10 years old, which explains why the pretty little blonde girl in my class wasn’t allowed to play at my house - Leni.)

Space Camp - Every kids dream - go to space camp, accidentally wind up in space (easy to do) have a teenage tryst, and save the day.

2001 Space Odyssey - Obvious but essential.

Galaxy Quest - A bit out there but seriously underrated comedy.

Flash Gordon - Love it, it is ridiculous (NB the porn version is called Flesh Gordon tee hee).
