Scrambled ‘Edds & Convoy Unlimited Present: DUB FX

Summer is in full swing, sunshine or not, and Australia’s own Dub Fx are hitting Bristol on the 28th July 2012 for a night of colossal beats and dirty debauchery at the O2 Academy.

Scrambled ‘Edds & Convoy Unlimited Present: DUB FX

Dub Fx, or Benjamin Stanford for those in the know, is an international street performer and recording artist who has taken Europe by storm with a combination of his live looping, hip hop grooves, drum & bass beats, reggae rhythms, rich vocals and mind boggling pedal effects. Performing whilst recording and looping is Dub Fx’s trademark, blasting out multifaceted tunes that you can’t hold still to. As only one in two UK dates of his European Tour, this will be a spectacle to behold.

Using only live performance, word of mouth, social networking and free samples to make his name known, Dub Fx is an organic and independent artist whose music has spread contagiously. From busking Britain to 8 million YouTube hits of such street performances to owning the stages of Woodstock and Glastonbury  -  and it comes as no surprise, he’s a bloody genius.

Everyone needs a partner in crime and for Dub Fx it’s British born collaborator and fiancée, Flower Fairy (Soshana Sadia.) Having featured on Everythinks A Ripple, Wandering Love & Time Will Tell, she has gone on to travel and busk the globe with Stanford. Flower Fairy will of course be accompanying Dub Fx on stage, along with the likes of Snareophobe, Mr Woodnote and Bristol’s very own Dub Mafia.

Having started off only two years ago, Dub Mafia have exploded, becoming a global phenomenon in the world of dance music. Mashing together drum and bass, dub, bashment and breakbeat into their own unique style, they are an indestructible energy supplied through filthy drops, intense rhythms and a strict no backing track policy. My foot is twitching as I write this.

If that’s not enough, Bristol Dub Club are taking over Room 2 to bring you the likes of DJ Parasite (Death$ucker Records) and a Bristol debut from Spenghead, a rotten hunk of 100 bpm uliginosa electro glitch hop, to bless your ears with a mix of dub, reggae, dubstep, jungle and breakcore.
