Mac Miller Gig Review
Mac Miller hits Bristol O2 Academy....
Mac Miller is a crossover artist. In the traditional sense of Hip-Hop he might not figure, but in the new genre of hip-hop/pop he is something to be reckoned with. A reasonably skilled MC, with catchy hooks and good word play, Mac Miller makes no apologies over what he is, and in fact he does it really quite well.
This was present this Sunday evening when he took the stage at the 02 Academy. Himself and the Most Dope crew worked the crowd well, (most notably his talented hypeman, TreeJay) with a set list crammed full of his pop filled hip-hop hits. Even throughout minor sound problems both his energy, and that of the crowds didn’t waver. Playing both from his popular mixtapes: Kids, Best Day Ever, the newly released Macadelic, as well as his debut album Blue Slide Park; Highlights included Frick Park Market, BDE Bonus, Senior Skip Day, Knock Knock and Donald Trump.
Mac Millers music may not appeal to those whose passion lies in hip-hop in its truest form. But with a set list as filled with popular hits in the making, a well oiled and presented show of accessible entertainment and over 300,000,000 views on Youtube, it looks like Mac Miller is here to stay.
