In:Motion 2012 Preview

In:Motion returns to Bristol for a 3rd series of unparalleled electronic experiences from September to December. Bought to you by Bristol’s most bold and innovative event programmers, the In:Motion series has developed into an international showcase for the most forward thinking artists in contemporary electronic music, performing alongside some of the world’s most revered and influential names. The team behind In:Motion are acclaimed for putting on some of the most diverse and dynamic events in the UK and their wealth of experience and impeccable dedication to the underground dance music circuit has seen them collectively put on events including, Glastonbury’s Dance Village’s Wow! stage, last year’s See No Evil and 2012’s debut dance festival - Love Saves The Day – which sold out in just 7 weeks!

The 2012 lineup is the biggest and most diverse yet, exploring all corners of dance music taking place at this iconic Bristol institution. With its network of warehouses and impeccable sound systems, Motion is the perfect setting to enjoy an unparalleled clubbing experience and has become an international destination for dance music lovers.

Fatboy Slim has been one of the most important and recognisable names in dance music over the past 15 years, a huge crowd favorite and a man guaranteed to transform any crowd into a sweaty, writhing mass. In:Motion are proud to have pulled off a real coup here as Norman plays for the first time in Bristol for over ten years!

Playing in Bristol for the very first time is the mighty Sven Vath - in a unique and exclusive 'all-night-long' set with Visionquest's Seth Troxler.  The show is a 'Cocoon's Heroes - Into the magic' show - with full show production and the amazing experience that you receive from any and all of Cocoon's world renowned parties. Playing alongside Sven is Seth Troxler, synonymous with tripped out house and techno music and
no holds barred parties; his Visionquest label is one of the most exciting in dance music today.

Unstoppable DJ force Annie Mac has earned international recognition for her Radio 1 show and unquenchable passion for new sounds. Annie always brings the party and packs the dancefloor! This year Annie unleashes her mega-tour on the unsuspecting UK public with a line-up that is next level.

Four Tet has gained worldwide recognition for his unique and untarnished approach to production and relentless drive to push musical boundaries. His peerless recordings and performances have positioned him as one of the most respected artists on the circuit today. His eagerly awaited eighth album is released this August.

In:Motion bow down before the greatest hip hop act of all time, Public Enemy and are proud to host what will be an explosive live show from one of the most important acts in musical history. Public Enemy will be celebrating their 25th anniversary – and playing with a full live band, unleashing the musical fury that defined them as the musico-political icons of our time.

Flying the flag for a new breed of artists is Grimes, one of the most talked about names of 2012, bringing her innovative fusion of pop, punk and psychadelic revelry to the UK for a much anticipated performance. This is made all the more special as this will be Grimes’ only UK performance this winter – interrupting her European tour especially for this In:Motion show.

Magnetic Man aka Benga, Skream and Artwork brought dubstep to the mainstream with their eponymous debut album, paving the way for the sound to go global and influence everyone from Madonna to deadmau5. The trio has stormed the international festival circuit this summer and take their huge, bass heavy sound back indoors for this show.

Immortal producer and musician, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry has been a huge influence on the development and acceptance of dub and reggae internationally and is still trailblazing today at the ripe old age of 76. A legendary live performer, his is a must see In:Motion In:Motion welcome a true ambassador of deep house in Kerri Chandler. One of the masterminds behind the infusion of soul into deep house, Kerri has been creating incredible 4/4 beats since the early nineties and continues to deliver tracks of infinite
beauty.

Andy C is regarded as one of the greatest DJ’s ever to touch a turntable. Famed for his incendiary three deck mix DJ sets, the Ram Records founder has relentlessly dedicated almost two decades of his life to his unquenchable passion for drum & bass. International DJ force, High Contrast has smashed his way through the drum & bass scene since his first release with the much lauded label, Hospital Records. Having claimed critical recognition for his pioneering production skills, his catalogue of tracks remain in heavy rotation across the drum & bass circuit and he has become one of the scenes iconic and much respected heroes.

Jamie Jones continually grows more diverse as he continues to take risks to develop his unique sound. His style is varied but the backbone has always been deep house, Detroit techno and generally anything moody, edgy and groove based. Also performing is Moodymann, an outstanding figure in house music, jazz, soul and techno.

In:Motion is immensely proud of all of its headliners this year – and they truly represent just how far this project has come in only 3 years – however the project has only become what it is now due to its dedication to unearthing, inviting and supporting the real emerging talents and most forwarding thinking producers in the world of dance music. To this end we are as equally excited to present artists of the caliber of Rustie, Shackleton, Stay+, Blawan, Midland, Eats Everything, Maxxi Soundsystem, Brey, Velour, Dan Avery, Kutmah, Darksky, Mele, Woz and too many more to mention.

In:Motion has partnered up with the most avant-garde global clubbing brands, those spearheading new musical revolutions and sounds to host some exceptional nights. On board for 2012 are Cocoon, Futureboogie, Resident Advisor, Hospitality, dirtybird, Trouble Vision, Buggedout! and Hessle amongst a host of other, on point, promoters. All will be bringing the most superlative sounds and dynamic artists to this musical mecca.

The In:Motion series and Motion nightclub have been one of the catalysts for the current renaissance of Bristol music and their 2012 programme continues to provide a platform for emerging local artists, promoters and labels pairing them up with international stars. Local talent now hitting national and international attention who will be gracing us with their presence this year includes Joker, Redlight, Eats Everything, Lukas, Christophe, Behling and Simpson, Waifs and Strays, My Nu Leng, The Other Tribe, Interface, Javeon McCarthy and Hyetal alongside many more to be announced.

Combining unparalleled, cutting edge music with a charismatic charm, In:Motion has championed a prodigious reputation for its commitment to underground electronic music.

So the countdown has begun until the In:Motion series well and truley comes round your house, kicks down your door and gets you set for the biggest party season Bristol, if not the whole of the South-West has to offer.

Over 4 months Bristol's world famous skatepark come warehouse party behemoth Motion will be taking you on an epic journey right into 2013. So don't sit down, stand up, get to the front and embrase this to the max. It is not set to disapoint!
