Bristol has long been renowned for it’s musical exports and the city's influence on popular music in recent decades is often held in high regard. In the last 20 years the west country's cultural capital has played home to such diverse dance music heavyweights as: The legendary Wild Bunch Crew, (Mercury Music prize winner and Drum and Bass hall of famer) Roni Size, Trip Hop luminaries such as Massive Attack, Portishead and Tricky, pioneering electronic acts such as Nick Warren and Jody Wisternoff's Way Out West (the clue is in the name!). And in more recent years, globally renowned Dubstep visionaries such as Joker, Appleblim, and Subloaded boss DJ Pinch.

In spite of this vibrant and influential dance music heritage however, England's 6th largest city has often been all but overlooked by the majority of travelling clubbers in favour of the more traditional tried and tested UK nightlife hotspots such as London and Manchester. Whilst Bristol itself can boast many great venues over the last 2 decades, few of these have really made their mark on the consciousness of clubbers from other parts of the UK and abroad in the same way that traditional destination venues like Manchester's Hacienda, Sanky's or Warehouse Project, or London's Ministry of Sound, Fabric or Matter have done.
Pleasingly though this is seemingly all about to change, as Bristol’s legendary Motion Skate Park begins to undertake its transformation into the exciting new live music venue for Bristol In:Motion. Having been privy to a sneak peek at what is coming up we’re thrilled to announce the first of the line-ups that are going to be blasting Bristol’s nightlife out of the ground in the coming months...
Kicking things off with a HUGE opening party on Friday the first of October will be the legendary hip hop master, KRS One alongside Rodney P & Skitz, Supernatural, The Extended Players and lots more. Then the very next day the UK's hottest DnB party Hospitality bring down the jewel in their crown High Contrast. He will also be joined by drum n bass legends Marky, Fabio, Danny Byrd, and Logistics amongst others at Bristol In: Motion’s monumental opening weekend.
On Friday the eighth of October electronic pioneers, DJs and producers of the moment Simian Mobile Disco will be bringing down the walls with French techno master, Shonky and Jamie Anderson to form part of the BuggedOut! tribe. Whilst the following weekend on Friday the 15th BLOC have invited the legendary Green Velvet, Appleblim and Ramadanman for their Bristol launch party. Then the next day on Saturday 16th things really continue to heat up as local party giants Shit The Bed bring an epic line-up including Sheffield dance sensation Toddla T, French electro Ed Banger crew member DJ Feadz, as well as leading lights Redlight & Dread, Starkey, Ed Rush & loads more.
Fast forward two jam packed weeks to Friday 29th October and Bristol's foremost Dubstep heavyweights Subloaded will be shaking In:Motion to it's rafters with their monstrous sixth birthday including the full DMZ crew of Mala, Coki, Loefah & MC Sgt Pokes, plus Subloaded boss himself DJ Pinch, Doc Scott, Peverelist, RSD and many more. Then on Saturday 30th representing the finest underground sounds, Bristol’s own Just Jack have invited Crosstown Rebels' cheeky compadre Seth Troxler, Simple RecordsWill Saul, young dubstepper Joy Orbison, Birmingham’s rising star Subb-an and London’s east-end disco mafia Disco Bloodbath to join the proceedings for the Halloween "Circus Freak Boutique".

Adding more fuel to this musical bonfire, The Invisible Circus and Bristol DnB institution Run also offer explosive line-ups that straddle dubstep, hip hop, drum & bass and anything that smashes a dance. Featuring the likes of the Scratch Perverts, Joker, Grooverider, Xample & Lomax, Die & Interface, D*Minds, Bar9, Tek One, Komonazmuk and Rockwell, plus special one off events with Kissy Sell out, Annie Mac and Hadouken, Bristol In:Motion is cultivating an breath-taking auditory and visual experience to blow the mind of revelers across the country. As Bristol's very own Venue Magazine so eloquently put it this week "Hatch off every Friday and Saturday in your diary from October until 2011, because the city's largest clubbing extravaganza ever has it covered!"
And here are some of the events that have been announced so far.
