Momiji Design Exhibition

Written by Don\\\\\\\'t Panic / 23 Mar 2009

In July 2006 a young lady called Joanna Zhou won our poster competition. Her design featured fifteen little dolls dressed in different Japanese fashion styles. The poster was spotted by Momiji. They decided to turn the dolls into real live dolls (a bit like Penny Crayon) and sell them all over the world. Then Momiji came back to us and said something to the effect of: "We want to harvest the talents of more young designers. Please can you run another competition for a new doll and we'll make the winner's design real (a bit like Penny Crayon) and give him/her loads of money?"

We said "Yes". Then we had an exhibition with lots of free drinks at the Leonard Street Gallery and the finalists were picked by a panel of judges, one of whom was Don't Panic director Nick Agha.

Because the night was massively fabulous, the fabulous London Kicks came down to film it and get interviews and wot-not. Have a butchers!
