Every now and then you hear about an invention that is so ingenious that you wonder how people ever managed without it. The ‘mecca nism’ is one such invention. We asked the inventor Jonathan Krantz to tell us a little more.
Tell us about mecca nism?
The "mecca nism" (working title) directs Muslims to the true direction of
Why is mecca nism important?
Where did the inspiration come from?
Well, last year I attended a foundation course at
Tell us about the technology?
It uses a hyperdrive and a flux capaciter that is combined with a flangle and a magic 8 ball… it's truly mind bending! Seriously though, it utilises patented technologies that have only recently become affordable for application in hand held consumer products. For example, this year we have two variations being launched, the basic model that is pocket/key-ring size and a second product with blue tooth functionality that is designed to be hung around the neck on a lanyard. Both devices require simple input information about city and local time. Everything else is automated.
What does invention mean to you?
Not a lot really! I prefer the term "innovation", using what is around to inspire new ideas. Music is a great example of this… there are set and yet infinite ways of applying and manipulating sound. If you were to ask me 'Can one achieve a successful business through invention?' I would like to bring your attention to an old business fable told to me by my Dad........
"Once there was a man who invented the everlasting battery....
he died a very poor man."
