YOU’LL GET RUN OVER!!

If you asked me 2 weeks ago, what I thought of Hot Wheels – I would have said that they were wicked, but not quite as good as Micro Machines… I would say this with a hint of hurt and resentment in my voice. I was always pissed off that my Mum wouldn’t buy me the real things and bought me crap fake imitation plastic ones from Burnt Oak market.

Anyway if you asked me today, I would say he is the next grime MC to blow. “True say, mans may have some bars. True say, mans might flow and shit… but what makes him different. What makes him innovative?” – I hear you say.

17-year old MC Hotwheels isn’t your average Grime MC. He is the worlds first ever disabled Grime MC. In fact, I think he might be the first ever disabled MC… in any genre. To top it all off, he has the best hype man I’ve ever seen in the shape of his over-active, mumbling father. Even stranger – he is from Staines.

After seeing the now notorious YouTube video that has made 17-year old Olly Pool somewhat of a hot new property in the Grime scene, I decided to chat with the young spitter:

HW: “Its been mental. It’s blown out of nowhere. It was just a joke really… Its mad how people in the scene are getting to know about me from this video”

Having already been shouted out by Skepta and DJ EZ, he is getting props in all the right areas. But, there are of course a few haters:

HW: “I don’t waste my time on them. I don’t mind criticism but not if it is abusive.  If people want to tell me something about my lyrics, that’s fine – but don’t talk about my disability.”

Olly suffers from SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) which has bounded him to a wheelchair.  Rather than letting that stop his career, he uses it to his advantage by even creating his own little tag line and catchphrase… "You’ll get RUN OVER!!"

HW: “Well obviously I cant fight too well, so running people over is the next best thing for me”

He is currently working on a mixtape and is looking towards doing shows. But would he perform solo or bring along his hype man/father?

HW: “People haven’t even seen the best of us. My dad is totally crazy – that YouTube video isn’t even him acting crazy – that’s him normally!! Wait for the next video – trust!”.

In all honesty, I can’t wait.
