MR HUDSON VS NIYI - THE PRODUCER BATTLE

By

For this innovation-themed issue of the Don’t Panic magazine we thought we’d ask two of the most talented producers out there right now to duke it out over a beat.

Niyi is the prince of all things fluorescent. He produces for Namalee and his single Poached Eggs is released on August 27th. His signature tune London (demo), which was massive a couple of months ago, is the kind of crude, DIY beat that picks you up and chucks you around like rough, semi-consensual sex. On this remix he had some help from Dan Szor on guitar.

Mr Hudson is the king of the Jump Off producer battle and has had plenty of practice at throwing beats together quick-fast. His album A Tale Of Two Cities was released in March this year and he has been touring with endearingly anorexic Ami Winehouse with his band The Library.

We gave both contenders the acapella of Badmind - the debut single from Reggae artist Natty, which is being released via his Vibes & Pressure label with the help of Mucha Music. The only guideline was to make the filthiest little nugget of a remix humanly possible. Click on the thumbnail images above to hear the original from Natty and the two remixes.
