Wolverine (AKA Logan) of the X-Men is not the most obvious choice for a detailed, daily character study, and perhaps that's part of the appeal. Gideon Boomer has been drawing the clawed mutant nearly every day since the end of March and is up to 27 portraits so far. Probably 28 by the time you read this.
Obviously I have to ask - why did you start drawing Wolverine every day?
My friend Chuck BB told me to draw the first Wolverine. He had just drawn one and he liked the idea of having a topic for everyone to iterate on. I made the first drawing and then wanted to do another. Then another. It kept pouring out. Wolverines everywhere. It felt good to be drawing so much so I made it a daily habit. I never have to think about what I'm going to draw, I can just start drawing.

What about other X-men? No love for the Nightcrawler or Prof X? What about the Juggernaut?
I don't want to confuse people. One character at a time sort of thing. I remember when the comics started getting all, "This is Alpha X-men, its totally different than Omega X-men, but don't forget to read Onslaught cause every one dies, but no one exists in the first place" and then I farted. No good.

How do you come up with all these Wolverine situations? Do you actually imagine yourself inside an adamantium exoskeleton?
I go up into my brain with Wolverine and a camera and we frolic around for a bit and then he says something along the lines of, "How 'bout I go fight that white slug and chop off its butt?" And I'm like, "Go for it." Then I draw.

On a related note - do you actually do all of these yourself? It seems like there's a pretty wide range of styles...
Thank you art school!
Blogging Logan. Blogan. (Friday, March 14, 2008)
Do you have a favourite daily wolverine?
The first Wolverine, Blogan the animal rights activist mountain, is very near and dear.

Another of your blog projects is Touch my Belly, where you seem to get people to fondle your stomach. Sometimes literally dozens of fingers all over your naked skin. What's been your favourite belly molestation?
I started that project so I could talk to strangers, so in that way they were all successful and fun. I guess my favourites are the annual shots with Santa. They made good holiday cards.
You've got nearly eight months to befriend Gideon and potentially receive one of these for Christmas
