Walking the River
Nadav Kander photographs the long journey down Yangtze
Not many would choose to take a casual stroll down a seemingly endless stretch of water. Mist, cold, rain and strangers are all that wait for you down that lonely path, with derelict buildings shooting up from the ground like trodden-on weeds and the bank of the river only homely to jagged rocks and ugly creatures that prefer the dark and damp.

Nevertheless photographer Nadav Kander decided to take this journey down the Yangtze River in China to capture the lives and images he found along the way. The photos he took of the people by the riverside are simple yet powerful, giving us a brief insight to the lives of people living in un-ideal conditions.

The full collection of photographs can be seen at the Flowers Gallery on Kingsland Road until November 13, along with a film projection narrated by Kander himself explaining each photo, why he took it, what it shows, who the person is and the message behind it.
