The Impossible Project
Polaroid cameras back to life
In February 2008 when Polaroid announced it was stopping production on all its instant film, millions of working Polaroid cameras suddenly faced redundancy.
The iconic white-bordered Polaroid photographs have a cult status and after the announcement artists and enthusiasts alike rushed to buy up all remaining film.
After 17 months of research and development, The Impossible Project has now released instant film compatible with the traditional Polaroid cameras. It is available in monochrome with the promise of a colour film in Summer 2010 and eventually a total of six new instant film formats.
The First Flush Silver Shade Edition of PX100 is available now through the website and soon through 'selected premium retail partners'.
The PX600 for Polaroid One cameras will apparently arrive next month. According to the website the new instant films combine the traditional elements of analogue instant film with the new appearance of silver based monochrome shades.
