Sarah Dennis Illustration
Sarah Dennis is an illustrator based in Bristol. Her work invokes a feel of fairy tale innocence, with strong themes of nature and childhood and consists of illustrations, hand felted craft toys and zines.
Sarah studied at the University of the West of England and now is based in Montpelier. She creates pieces with line drawings worked together with textures and contemporary techniques. A strong love of nature inspires her work and pieces often feature birds, sea creatures and animals. These illustrations are often created with an imaginary twist - an illustration of the flightless bird The Kapapo sees the bird undertaking a yoga session, and a piece called ‘The Trojan Fashion Horse’ features a horse embellished with patterns, cars, clocks and feathers.

Children's story themes also feature strongly and Sarah has published her own children's book 'Toby' which has been distributed in the UK and Australia. Pan Macmillan Publishing have recognised her talent by commending a submission of illustrations by the artist. As well as being busy creating her own work, Sarah has been very involved in the Bristol art scene. A co founder of art collective 'Hot Soup', which undertakes interactive art events, she has worked for clients such as Bristol Festival, The Adventurists and Bristol bar The Canteen.

This summer sees two exhibitions from Sarah – an interactive exhibition at Shop on Christmas Steps, Bristol. This exhibition runs from April 1 – 30 and will include artwork, toys and zines for sale, together with a Hot Soup interactive session where you can create your own comic.
'Catching the Big Fish' is Sarah's second exhibition held at the Here Gallery, Stokes Croft, from July 19 - 24. This will be a journey through her work including a installation of felt characters, trees birds and clouds.
