Heringa and Van Kalsbeek
Images of resin sculptures on display
An exhibition of the work of Dutch artist duo Liet Heringa and Maarten van Kalsbeek opens at the Vegas Gallery In Sept. Obscure, slightly unnerving sculptures incorporating found materials such as flowers, feathers and corals and are made of polyurethane which, once solidified, creates a glazed effect like pottery or glass. The compositions and colours evoke the seventeenth century traditions of vanitas paintings with their florid bouquets and sumptuous feasts.
