Global Warming Could Save Mankind (From Themselves)

Maybe the world's leaders are missing a trick with this global warming business. After all, along with complaining about politicians, talking about the weather gives Britain a sense of identity.

With Global Warming failing to die off after a spin in the media, we are still troubled by melting ice and stranded polar bears. Where once we exchanged a brief complaint about the rain/fog, now we have an excuse not to even look at people, no matter how nice the weather is, because they probably have an irresponsibly sized carbon footprint.
This weather-anxiety could be an undiscovered method of maintaining national unity elsewhere: it is fantastic mutual ground for a disparate nation. It affects how many jumpers we have to wear, prescribes how horrible the journey to work was, and doesn't involve exchanging opinion.
China is dealing with the extreme weather changes on a slightly different tact to Britain. Instead of self-depreciating social distain, they are claiming that they did it on purpose. Yes, that's right: they are not in fact at the mercy of the weather as we understand it. Magic and technology in the skies, rather than drizzle and dreariness, are the tools with which China claims its identity as a nation booming.\
