The Whitechapel Gallery hosts Art Plus Music, a star studded multi-platform charity art event on Thursday 22nd April with some of the most celebrated figures in art, music and film coming together in support of the Gallery’s Education and Community Programme.

An extraordinary programme of specially commissioned live performances is lined up to keep the discerning crowd entertained at this worthy event. Anyone who can stretch to the £185 ticket price will not be disappointed, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Jefferson Hack, Giles Deacon, Tracey Emin and Henry Holland.

From the Giles Deacon designed 7” record sleeve invitations that were sent to VIP guests, to the critically-acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Bishi’s performance with interactive artwork by Oscar Sol, it is clear that this night is sure to be a delectable feast for the mind, eyes and ears.

There is a focus on collaboration and cooperation, with artists of different mediums coming together in performance. One of the highlights of will be the ethereal vocals of Bat for Lashes’ Natasha Khan being accompanied by a string quartet and film projections. Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie, Barrie Cadogan and Darrin Mooney will be perform with The Kills’ Jamie Hince and a projected artwork created by fashion designer and artist Julie Verhoeven will provide the backdrop.

Music will also be provided by Jack Peñate who will be playing a new song written specially for Art Plus Music and then a selection of celebrity DJs will take to the decks throughout the night.

An auction of specially commissioned artworks will be taking place during the evening, raising funds for the Gallery’s Education and Community programme that works with over 3,000 children and 30 diverse community groups each year in one of Europe’s poorest boroughs.

The event is a testament to the collective power of art, and is sure to be a party to remember. As it is for a good cause, well, it would be rude not to...
