Illustration for "The Left Hand of God" by Mark Cromwell:\nThis illustration is done with acrylic on board with a subsequent photoshop overlay. I wanted to convey the youth, focus, confidence and scarred demeanor of the main character Thomas Cale. His unemotional and brazen stare is intended to be a little unsettling and to contrast his youthful features. The setting is intended to be hard, cold and uninviting, a reflection of our character's hard existence here. Behind the poised figure of Thomas, there are three men watching the events unfolding before them with no intentions to intervene. The intersecting daggers are subtly symbolic of the cross.
Mark Cromwell was born very young and began drawing almost immediately! Now older and a pretty good guy, Mark has a BFA degree from the University of Calgary and resides in Alberta, Canada where he works as a commercial artist.
