I wanted the character to ooze mystery. Cale appears to be stepping from the shadows, his eyes are dark and unreadable and his impression curious. I wanted to create a portrait that lured the viewer in, using conflicting tones and sharp brush marks.

The title of the book is painted on acetate over the top to give a impression of where it could possibly sit.
